About Us
PSD Nepal works with rural communities to improve food security, environmental sustainability, and climate resilience through sustainable agriculture and ecosystem restoration. Our Sustainable Agriculture & Tree Plantation Volunteer Program supports practical initiatives that improve livelihoods while protecting natural resources for future generations.
Volunteers work alongside local farmers, schools, community groups, and youth clubs to establish kitchen gardens, school gardens, community nurseries, off-season vegetable production, fruit tree plantations, and environmental restoration projects. These activities help increase household food production, improve nutrition, generate income, restore degraded landscapes, and strengthen resilience to climate change.
Participants gain hands-on experience in sustainable farming while learning about traditional agricultural practices, organic farming, climate-smart agriculture, composting, soil conservation, and community-based natural resource management.
Whether you are passionate about agriculture, conservation, or rural development, this program provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental and livelihood projects while experiencing rural Nepal.

Depending on seasonal priorities, volunteers may participate in tree planting, nursery maintenance, environmental education, biodiversity conservation, waste management campaigns, school programs, community awareness activities, or clean-up events.
Lunch is usually shared with the host family or local community. Afternoon activities may include preparing educational materials, meeting with community groups, monitoring project progress, or supporting environmental workshops. Evenings are free to relax, explore the local area, enjoy cultural exchange, or spend time with fellow volunteers and host families.
€300 per week
Volunteers stay with local host families, in volunteer houses, or at community guesthouses, depending on the project location. Accommodation is clean, safe, and comfortable, with shared rooms, bedding, electricity, and bathroom facilities provided. Internet access is available in most urban areas but may be limited in rural communities.
Staying with a local host family offers an authentic cultural experience and provides volunteers with the opportunity to build meaningful relationships within the community.
Three home-cooked meals are provided each day throughout your placement. Volunteers enjoy traditional Nepali cuisine, including Dal Bhat (rice, lentils, vegetables, and curry), chapati, noodles, seasonal vegetables, fruit, tea, and other local dishes.
Vegetarian meals are always available, while vegan and other special dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with advance notice.
