About Us
Nature Conservation and Study Centre (NCSC) is a grassroots non-profit that works with local communities in Nepal for conservation. Our work mostly involves working with community forest user groups, local government, schools, and stakeholders to conduct wildlife monitoring and outreach programs. We also conduct scientific research to generate high-quality scientific data to evaluate the status and trend of wildlife in our project area. Our main goal is to build resilient and empowered communities who can lead conservation projects on their own.

Why choose us?
We don’t tell communities what to do; we work alongside them. We believe local people have been protecting biodiversity in their own unique ways for generations. Our role is simply to help build their capacity so they can lead and sustain their own conservation programs.
Requirements
Interested in conservation and biodiversity.
Volunteer experience
Depending on the skills and background of the volunteer. Past volunteers have helped develop our visual branding and templates for presentations and our website, worked side-by-side with us in the field to deploy camera traps, assisted with community dissemination workshops, and helped collect field data.

When based in Kathmandu, volunteers arrange and cover their own food and lodging, though we are happy to assist with recommendations and bookings at direct cost. When deployed to the field for active project work (such as camera trapping or community workshops), accommodation and meals are arranged directly by NCSC, with costs managed on a case-by-case basis depending on project funding.
