I was volunteering 2 times for MDO . The first time in 2015 for 5 months and the second time in 2017 for 3 months. I felt home there from the beginning on. I enjoyed a lot the easy and slow life style and the atmosphere of the school community was so welcoming and warm. I really enjoyed to be part of the team and help to teach the kids (mostly I gave inputs for the work in the kindergarten). The everyday life: cooking and eating together as well as working and spending freetime together was a great experience to learn a lot of the Nepali culture. To volunteer for MDO was definitely one of the best times in my life. I could recommend to everybody to go there and to be part of MDO. When you go back home you will keep this place forever in your heart!

I feel extremely lucky to have spent a few days volunteering for MDO. I stayed at the school where I met these incredible kids who were always so kind and funny, and I was able to help them with their tasks and play with them. I also got to visit their village and understand more their way of living. Even if you just stay there for a few days, you will truly get the essence of the place, built with so much love and compassion. Any help is needed and will be sincerely appreciated. I cannot recommend this experience enough. Thank you again Siddharth and all the team for all the work you put in this project and for welcoming me so kindly. 🩷

I've stayed at the school with Muna and Siddharth for a couple of months and it has been an amazing, warm and unique experience. They've made me feel very welcome and at ease. The location of the school and where you live is really unique, in between the mountains and surrounded by lovely animals. Muna cooks amazing fresh and healthy meals. I was teaching at the school and found that very rewarding and fun. Other volunteers were also doing agriculture and construction work. In our time off we went to Damauli the nearby city for coffee and some shopping, but we also had some amazing hikes and bigger trips to, amongst others, Pokhara, Bandipur and Manungkot. It has truly been a life changing and grounding experience for me, and i still miss Muna and the school. I will be back in the future- no doubt.

Staying at the school was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Siddharth and his family welcomed me like their own, and the warmth of the village—shared meals, friendly neighbours, and constant kindness—made every day special. The stunning Himalayan scenery and peaceful atmosphere made it even more unforgettable. I’m grateful for everything I learned and for the generosity I experienced. I love and miss everyone, and I can’t wait to come back.

I came to the small community up in the mountains near Damauli, not knowing what to expect. I knew I would work with construction at a school, and not a hole lot more, even though Siddharth was very good at keeping regular contact leading up to my visit. I came to the school and was received with open arms. Not only from Siddharth and his family, but also the kids and all the teachers. My time in Damauli was far more than just construction work. I was a part of the community. Helping teaching, making food and playing with the kids. It sounds clichee, but I really did feel apart of one big happy family. Every day in the afternoon and evenings we sat together and talked. Everybody was very open to a good conversation. We were regularly on trips to the nearby villages, where we got a taste of the Nepali countryside culture.
