About Us

Kingdom Mission International (KMI) Foundation Thailand is a registered charitable organisation based in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province, in the Golden Triangle region of northern Thailand. We are committed to empowering vulnerable communities through education, practical skills development, leadership training, and sustainable community development.

Our work serves local Thai communities, hill tribe people, and people from Myanmar and Laos, including displaced and vulnerable families who face barriers to education and employment opportunities.

At KMI, we believe education, meaningful relationships, and community involvement can create lasting change. We work with local schools, students, families, and communities to provide educational support, develop practical skills, and create opportunities for a brighter future.

We welcome international volunteers who are passionate about serving others and sharing their knowledge and experience. Volunteers can contribute by assisting with English classes in local schools, supporting educational activities, helping in villages, participating in community outreach, and using their skills to support local initiatives.

Volunteering with KMI is an opportunity to experience Thai culture, build cross-cultural friendships, learn from local communities, and make a meaningful contribution to the lives of others.

We provide volunteer accommodation at our mission headquarters in Mae Sai. Volunteers are responsible for their own travel and food expenses. Visa-related supporting documents are provided following selection, subject to applicable requirements.

Whether you are a teacher, student, professional, or someone who simply wants to make a difference, we invite you to join us in serving communities and creating opportunities through education and practical support.

Why choose us?

KMI offers a unique opportunity to serve at the crossroads of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, in the culturally diverse Golden Triangle region. Based in Mae Sai, northern Thailand, we work alongside local schools, hill tribe communities, and vulnerable families to create meaningful opportunities through education, practical skills, and community support.

What makes us unique is our commitment to both immediate needs and long-term transformation. Volunteers do more than teach English—they build relationships, encourage students, participate in village activities, and become part of a community working toward a brighter future.

At KMI, you will experience authentic cultural exchange, work directly with local communities, and see how your time and skills can make a practical difference. We provide volunteer accommodation at our mission headquarters and welcome people from different backgrounds who share a heart for serving others.

Free

KMI provides free shared accommodation for individual volunteers at our mission headquarters in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. The accommodation offers a simple, welcoming environment where volunteers can live, connect with others, and participate in our educational and community activities.

Volunteers should be prepared for basic, shared living arrangements and respect the house rules, cleanliness, privacy, and needs of others.

For volunteers travelling with a spouse, family, or children, we are unable to provide accommodation at our headquarters. However, we are happy to help families find suitable accommodation nearby at their own expense.

All volunteers are responsible for their own food, personal expenses, and daily transportation unless otherwise agreed. We recommend discussing your accommodation needs with KMI before arrival so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Our goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and friendly environment for volunteers from around the world.

Meals are not provided as part of KMI's volunteer program. Volunteers are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own food and covering all meal expenses during their stay.

Mae Sai offers a variety of local Thai food, markets, grocery shops, and restaurants where volunteers can find affordable meals and ingredients. Volunteers can discuss nearby food options and shopping facilities with the KMI team upon arrival.

We recommend that volunteers budget for daily meals and inform us in advance of any dietary requirements, food allergies, or special needs so we can offer appropriate guidance.

Families travelling with children are responsible for arranging and covering all food expenses for their family members.

During your free time in Mae Sai, you can explore the culture, food, and natural beauty of northern Thailand and the Golden Triangle region. Visit local markets, enjoy authentic Thai food, discover local shops, and experience the friendly atmosphere of the community.

You may explore nearby temples, visit scenic viewpoints, enjoy the surrounding mountains, or take day trips to Chiang Rai and other attractions in northern Thailand. Mae Sai is also a great place to learn about Thai culture and the diverse traditions of communities living near the Myanmar and Laos borders.

Volunteers can spend time building friendships with other volunteers, learning basic Thai language, joining local activities, or simply relaxing after a day of service.

Free-time activities are generally self-organised and at your own expense. KMI can offer suggestions about local attractions, transportation, and places to visit. We encourage volunteers to respect local customs and follow safety guidance.
