About Us

IPBio is a non-governmental, non-profit organization focused on environmental education and scientific research in biodiversity, ecology, and the behavior of Brazilian fauna and flora. It works to support conservation projects across ecosystems in Brazil.

IPBio is partnered with FreeWildlifeBrazil Celine, a non-profit dedicated to native bird release. In 2024, both organizations merged into a joint program, combining efforts to protect wildlife through shared volunteer and internship initiatives.

Why choose us?

Only 7% of the Atlantic forest remains and it has similar levels of biodiversity to the Amazon so its conservation is essential.

Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older and have at least an intermediate level of English.

No formal qualifications are required, as roles vary widely and do not depend on specific education or experience. However, places are limited, so applicants must submit a CV and complete a short interview as part of the selection process.

Volunteer experience

This fee covers the coordinator, accommodation, internet access and project costs.

Visa, flights, tourism, cost of living (food etc.)

General work hours are from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Activities vary daily and may include gardening and seedling preparation, fish inventory, bird inventory, mushroom inventory, and other biodiversity monitoring tasks.

1500 BRL per week via PayPal (approx. €250/week)

215 BRL per day (approx. €35/day)

Fees are non-refundable.

The guest house includes 2 shared rooms and 6 private rooms. All rooms have air conditioning or a fan, closet space, and electrical outlets. Private rooms also include a desk and chair. The house has 3 bathrooms with hot showers and a washing machine.

No, however, we provide a fully equipped kitchen so that participants can do their own shopping and prepare their own meals.
