PSD Nepal believes that powerful stories inspire action and create lasting impact. Our Media, Photography & Storytelling Internship offers creative individuals the opportunity to document community development, environmental conservation, education, public health, and volunteer projects across Nepal.
Interns work closely with project teams to capture authentic stories through photography, videography, interviews, writing, and digital media. Content created during the internship supports websites, social media, documentaries, donor reports, newsletters, fundraising campaigns, and public awareness initiatives.
Assignments may include photographing field activities, filming short documentaries, interviewing community members, writing blogs, creating social media content, editing videos, designing communication materials, and documenting project outcomes. Interns are encouraged to bring creative ideas and build a diverse professional portfolio while contributing to meaningful social impact.
This internship combines creativity, travel, and community engagement, making it ideal for aspiring photographers, filmmakers, journalists, and digital storytellers.

Requirements
Applicants should have an interest in photography, videography, journalism, digital media, communications, or storytelling. Basic knowledge of cameras, editing software, or content creation is helpful but not essential.
Creativity, strong communication skills, adaptability, and respect for local cultures are important. Bringing your own camera, laptop, or recording equipment is recommended. A portfolio is welcome but not required.
Volunteer experience
Each day varies depending on project activities. Interns may travel to schools, rural communities, environmental projects, or research sites to photograph activities, conduct interviews, film short videos, or collect stories from community members.
Afternoons are often spent editing photos and videos, writing blogs, creating social media content, designing communication materials, or meeting with project staff to plan future assignments. Each week offers new opportunities to document inspiring stories and share the experiences of communities across Nepal.
The internship fee includes airport pickup, accommodation, meals, orientation, supervision, project coordination, communication support, and administrative costs.

Interns stay with carefully selected host families or in shared volunteer accommodation, depending on the project location. Accommodation is safe, comfortable, and provides valuable opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange and experiencing daily life in Nepal.
Three nutritious meals are provided each day throughout your internship. Meals include traditional Nepali dishes, seasonal vegetables, fruits, and tea.
Vegetarian meals are always available, and special dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with advance notice.
Outside internship hours, participants can explore Nepal's rich natural and cultural heritage. PSD Nepal staff are happy to help volunteers plan safe and responsible weekend travel and activities throughout the country.
