About Us
Busoga Young Mothers Foundation is a community-based, non-profit organization located in Jinja, Uganda, dedicated to empowering vulnerable young mothers, teenage girls, and their families. Our mission is to equip young mothers with the knowledge, practical skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to build independent, healthy, and sustainable lives for themselves and their children.
We support young mothers through vocational skills training, education support, entrepreneurship development, life skills and mentorship, psychosocial counseling, reproductive health education, child welfare initiatives, and community outreach. By working closely with local leaders, schools, healthcare providers, and partner organizations, we strive to create safe, supportive communities where young mothers can thrive and build brighter futures.

Requirements
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have a positive attitude, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to supporting young mothers and children. Basic English proficiency is essential, and volunteers are expected to respect local culture and community values.
Experience in education, healthcare, social work, counseling, business, agriculture, media, or administration is welcome but not required for all roles. Volunteers staying for extended periods may be asked to provide a police clearance or background check. Participants are responsible for obtaining the appropriate visa, travel insurance, and any recommended vaccinations before arrival.
Volunteer experience
A typical volunteer day begins around 8:30 a.m. with a team briefing and planning session. Volunteers then take part in activities such as vocational skills training, mentoring young mothers, teaching basic literacy or computer skills, supporting children's activities, assisting with community outreach, or helping with administration and social media.
Lunch is usually served between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. Afternoon activities may include home visits, project planning, workshops, gardening, fundraising, or preparing educational materials. The workday typically ends between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., leaving evenings free to relax, connect with the local community, or explore Jinja.
