About Us
Varitra Foundation is a youth-led, Section 8 non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming rural government schools into quality learning spaces and nurturing grassroots changemakers in Haryana, India. Since its inception, the foundation has worked across nearly 60 villages, positively impacting more than 15,000 rural children, youth, and women in the districts of Karnal, Panipat, and Faridabad.
Our vision is to strengthen rural education by creating child-friendly learning environments, empowering local communities, and supporting the holistic development of underprivileged children. Through a whole-school transformation approach, we combine infrastructure improvements, learning enhancement, child-centred spaces, and community participation to create lasting change.

Volunteering with Varitra Foundation is a meaningful two-way learning experience for both volunteers and the rural children we serve. Activities are tailored to each volunteer's skills, interests, and the needs of the organisation, allowing participants to contribute where they can make the greatest impact.
Volunteer opportunities may include:
- Teaching English and supporting language learning
- Storytelling and creative learning activities

Requirements
Volunteer Requirements:
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Passport and appropriate visa (for international volunteers)
- Copy of passport and visa documents
- Professional résumé/CV
Volunteer experience
There is no fixed daily schedule, as each volunteer's activities are planned in consultation with the organisation based on their skills, interests, and project needs.
Volunteers are expected to contribute at least 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Time is typically divided between the organisation's urban office and rural government schools, where volunteers work directly with children through educational and community-based activities.
US$300 per month
- Private room with a double bed
- Wardrobe (almirah)
- Basic amenities for a comfortable stay
- Three meals per day
- Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, depending on availability
