Program at a glance
Why choose us?
What makes our program unique is that in everything we do, we engage our beneficiaries from the start and encourage them to take ownership in identifying and solving the problems within their community, while our role is to support and accompany them throughout the process. Volunteers should choose us because we help them become part of the team and support them in exploring our culture, while treating them as brothers and sisters.
Requirements
Volunteers must have valid documents (passport, yellow fever card, academic documents) to help us better understand them and place them in the most suitable program.
Volunteer experience
On the first day, we introduce volunteers to local leaders, partners, and beneficiaries after a briefing on the different projects and achievements. At the end of the day, we share lunch and coffee to evaluate the day and plan for the rest of the program.
The fee ($250 per week) we charge volunteers covers transportation to and from the airport, accommodation, meals, local transport, and the program fee.
We have two options for volunteers who would like to work with us. One is to stay in our homes (private rooms available), or to be accommodated in motels or hotels, depending on their preference. We discuss this during our initial communication.
We provide three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When we are far from the usual place for meals, we make arrangements in the field. Vegetarian meals are also catered for.
During their free time, volunteers can explore the area, play sports, go to the gym, jog, visit friends, hang out, watch games, or travel to different parts of the country. This may include visiting museums, Akagera National Park, gorilla trekking sites, Rusumo Falls, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre.
