About Us
Medi Trip is a skills-led volunteer organisation that provides structured placements for medical, nursing, allied health, psychology, law and human rights, engineering, and accounting students and professionals.
Unlike many volunteer organisations, Medi Trip was founded by a registered nurse with NHS experience who is also a Leadership Award winner. We work directly with local hospitals and community partners to provide supervised, ethical, and educational placements. Volunteers gain valuable exposure to real-world practice while supporting local services, with accommodation, orientation, airport transfers, and 24/7 in-country support included.

Requirements
Volunteers should have an intermediate level of English proficiency and a genuine interest in healthcare, community development, law, engineering, psychology, women's empowerment, accounting, or their chosen field.
Students, graduates, and qualified professionals are all welcome. Some clinical placements require volunteers to be currently enrolled in, or have completed, a relevant degree or professional qualification.
Volunteers are expected to respect local culture, maintain professional conduct, follow safeguarding policies, and work under the guidance of their supervisor at all times.
Depending on the placement, a police or background check may be required. Volunteers are responsible for obtaining the appropriate Tanzanian visa, arranging travel insurance, and ensuring they receive any recommended vaccinations before arrival.
Volunteer experience
Your day begins with breakfast before travelling to your placement. After meeting your supervisor, you will take part in activities suited to your background, qualifications, and the needs of the organisation. Depending on your placement, this may include clinical observation, supervised practical learning, legal or engineering projects, community outreach, research, education, or women's empowerment initiatives.
Most placements run Monday to Friday for approximately 6–8 hours per day, with a lunch break. Evenings and weekends are free for you to explore Arusha, join social activities, or take part in optional safaris and excursions.
Registration Fee: US$250 (one-time)
The registration fee includes comprehensive pre-departure support to help you prepare for your placement. This covers legal requirements, insurance guidance, safety information, cultural orientation, documentation, and personalised assistance to ensure you are fully prepared before you arrive in Tanzania.
Standard Program Fees:
- 2 weeks: US$660
- 3 weeks: US$810
- 4 weeks: US$940
Longer placements are available.

A laundry service is also available for an additional charge. Volunteers from around the world stay together, creating a welcoming and vibrant international community.
Two freshly prepared meals are provided each day: breakfast every day and dinner from Monday to Friday. Vegetarian, vegan, halal, and other dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with advance notice. Please note that lunch is not included.
Arusha is a vibrant city with plenty to explore during your free time. Volunteers can enjoy cafés, local markets, cultural attractions, sports, and social evenings with fellow participants.
For those looking to experience more of Tanzania, our team can help arrange optional weekend trips and excursions through trusted local partners. Popular activities include wildlife safaris, waterfall visits, hot springs, mountain day hikes, coffee tours, and cultural experiences. These optional activities can be discussed after your arrival or during your pre-departure planning call.
