Imara Community Growth Network (ICGN) is a community-based organization located in rural Kenya, dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, and vulnerable families through education, empowerment, and sustainable community development. Our vision is to build thriving, self-reliant communities where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Our mission is to promote education, child welfare, environmental conservation, and community empowerment through locally driven initiatives that create lasting positive change. The story of ICGN began with a simple desire to respond to the challenges facing children and families in our community. Many children were growing up in poverty, facing barriers to education, inadequate learning resources, food insecurity, and limited opportunities to reach their full potential. Seeing these struggles firsthand, local community members came together with a shared commitment to support vulnerable children and create pathways for a better future. What started as a small grassroots effort gradually grew into a trusted community network working closely with schools, families, and local leaders. Through dedication, volunteer support, and community partnerships, ICGN has expanded its activities to include educational support programs, mentorship, sports and recreation initiatives, environmental conservation projects, community outreach, and family empowerment activities. Today, ICGN works with children from diverse backgrounds, helping them access learning opportunities, develop confidence, and build essential life skills. We believe that sustainable development begins at the community level and that local people are best placed to identify and address their own challenges. For this reason, all our programs are designed and implemented in partnership with the communities we serve. Volunteers are an important part of our journey, as they share their skills, knowledge, and time to support our mission.

ACSG works to help address some of these challenges by connecting communities with information, support, resources, and opportunities for greater awareness. Our work includes cancer awareness and education, community outreach, early-detection education, support for community health screening activities, school and youth health education, patient and caregiver support, assistance for vulnerable people affected by cancer, fundraising, research, and public education. We are continually working to strengthen our community activities, develop partnerships, reach more people with reliable health information, and increase support for those affected by cancer.
Our English Teaching Program gives international volunteers the opportunity to support children and young people in a local Sri Lankan community while experiencing everyday village life and culture. At Akuratatha, we believe that learning English can create valuable opportunities for children in the future. Many children in rural areas have limited opportunities to practise speaking English outside school. Volunteers can help make learning more enjoyable, practical, and confidence-building through friendly and interactive lessons. Volunteers do not need to be professional teachers. We welcome people who are patient, friendly, responsible, and enthusiastic about working with children. You can use your own ideas and skills to make lessons interesting through conversations, games, songs, storytelling, reading, drawing, educational activities, and simple sports or creative activities. The teaching environment is informal and supportive. Volunteers can work with children at different English levels and adapt activities according to their abilities. The main aim is to help children become more comfortable using English and to encourage them to communicate without being afraid of making mistakes. This program is also a cultural exchange. Volunteers will have the chance to meet local families, experience Sri Lankan village life, enjoy traditional Sri Lankan food, and learn about local customs and daily life. At the same time, children can learn about different countries and cultures from their international volunteers. Akuratatha is a simple, family-based organisation, and we personally welcome our volunteers and support them during their stay. Volunteers become part of our community rather than simply attending a placement. During your free time, you can explore the beautiful southern coast of Sri Lanka, including Weligama, Mirissa, Ahangama, Matara, and Galle. You can enjoy swimming, surfing, diving, beaches, local markets, cultural sites, and wildlife safaris.
Reef Buddy Philippines is a registered non-profit organization based in Dauin, Negros Oriental, dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems and empowering local communities. As the sister program of Caribbean Reef Buddy, we bring proven conservation models to the Philippines, combining scientific research, education, and hands-on volunteer engagement. Our mission is simple yet urgent: to safeguard coral reefs and coastal habitats while inspiring people to become active stewards of the ocean. Volunteers join us in meaningful projects such as reef monitoring, artificial reef construction, marine species surveys, and community outreach. Each activity is designed not only to generate valuable data but also to build awareness and resilience among local stakeholders. What sets Reef Buddy Philippines apart is our integrated approach. We collaborate closely with dive operators, schools, and barangays to ensure conservation efforts are practical, sustainable, and community-driven. Volunteers gain real-world experience in marine science and conservation while also immersing themselves in Filipino culture and the vibrant diving scene of Dauin and Apo Island. We believe conservation is most effective when it is inclusive. Whether you are a student, a diver, or simply passionate about the ocean, your contribution helps strengthen reef ecosystems and supports livelihoods that depend on healthy seas. By joining Reef Buddy Philippines, you become part of a global network of ocean advocates working to protect biodiversity for future generations. MONO International School began with a simple belief: where a child is born should not decide how far they can go. In 2017, after more than 20 years working in education, our founder, Mak Sreymao, chose to leave her established career and dedicate her experience to creating new opportunities for children in one of Cambodia’s more remote communities. She started MONO in Thma Bang, Koh Kong Province, where access to quality education and English learning has been limited. What began with small English and mathematics classes for local children gradually grew into a registered kindergarten and a growing learning community. Today, MONO supports young children and students through kindergarten education, English and mathematics, after-school learning, life skills, leadership, and community activities. Our mission is not simply to teach lessons. We want children to discover confidence, curiosity, and the belief that their future can be bigger than the place where they were born. We believe education can open doors that children may not yet be able to see. MONO is located in a peaceful, remote forest community, surrounded by nature and close to the everyday life of local Cambodian families. For volunteers, this is an opportunity to step away from ordinary tourism and experience a different side of Cambodia—living locally, sharing cultures, learning from one another, and becoming part of a small community. When you volunteer with MONO, you are not just visiting a beautiful, remote place. You are sharing your time, knowledge, and heart with children who may remember your encouragement long after you leave. Come to teach, share, learn, and inspire—and leave knowing that you became part of MONO’s story.
I welcome volunteers to my home, where I live with two cows, two calves, and ten rabbits. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where volunteers can experience sustainable living, learn practical farming skills, and participate in meaningful activities. During their stay, volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about animal care, including feeding and looking after cows, calves, and rabbits. They will also gain practical knowledge of sustainable agriculture, responsible use of natural resources, and environmentally friendly ways of living. Another important part of the project is construction. Volunteers will help with small construction and improvement projects around the home and farm. Through teamwork and the exchange of skills, we aim to improve our living environment while sharing knowledge and experiences. I believe that hosting volunteers is a valuable opportunity for cultural exchange, learning, and personal growth. Volunteers will not only contribute their time and skills but also learn about local life, farming practices, and sustainable living. My vision is to build a sustainable home and farm where people from different backgrounds can work together, share ideas, develop practical skills, and make a positive contribution to the community.
