Based in Da Nang, Viet Endangered Narratives (VEN) is a social enterprise connecting biodiversity, people, research, and immersive experiences across Vietnam. Through conservation storytelling, we showcase the country’s natural beauty while highlighting the vital work of conservationists protecting its rich landscapes. At VEN, we believe that shared narratives can inspire collective action for the living world. Our mission is to advocate for Vietnam’s endangered species and threatened ecosystems through the power of documentary film, hands-on volunteering, and educational media. VEN was founded in October 2023 by Hong Tang, a community-based tourism trainer, and Paven Nguyen, an accomplished documentary and nature filmmaker. United by a shared vision to reconnect people with nature through locally rooted storytelling, the duo created VEN to shine a light on Vietnam’s most endangered species and overlooked ecosystems. Today, we have teams based in Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Ho Chi Minh City, capturing conservation stories where they unfold. In Da Nang, our Volunteer Coordinators lead engagement efforts, connecting international volunteers with vital conservation initiatives. They facilitate cultural exchange programs, support environmental education, and help raise awareness about Da Nang’s unique biodiversity through community outreach and hands-on involvement.
Enghouse English Homestay is a shared-living community in Vietnam where Vietnamese members and international volunteers live, communicate, and learn from one another. Our community was created to give Vietnamese students and young professionals a friendly environment in which they can become more confident using English in everyday life. Instead of focusing only on textbooks and formal lessons, we encourage natural communication through conversations, games, cultural discussions, shared meals, and community activities. International volunteers become part of the Enghouse community rather than working as formal teachers. They share their language, culture, and experiences while also learning about Vietnamese traditions, food, and daily life from our local members. No teaching qualification is required, and volunteers are not expected to follow a formal curriculum or prepare academic lessons. Our team helps organise the schedule and participates in the activities. We welcome volunteers’ ideas for conversation topics, games, cooking sessions, cultural presentations, and other interactive activities that allow everyone to learn together. Enghouse currently has locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Each volunteer stays at one agreed location, which will be confirmed before arrival. Our goal is to build an open, respectful, and multicultural home where local members and international visitors can develop genuine friendships and broaden their understanding of the world.
Phuket Elephant Sanctuary was founded in 2016 by Montri Todtane, a local from Paklok in Northeast Phuket. After more than a decade working with elephants in traditional tourism, Montri witnessed firsthand the physical and emotional impact that riding, performances, and demanding working conditions could have on elephants. Inspired by elephant conservationist Lek Chailert, he decided there had to be a better way. He closed his former elephant camp and opened Phuket’s first ethical elephant sanctuary: a place where rescued elephants can finally retire and simply be elephants. Today, our sanctuary covers 30 acres of tropical jungle bordering Khao Phra Thaeo National Park. Since opening, we have provided a home to more than 20 elephants rescued from tourism, riding camps, shows, and the logging industry. Here, elephants are given the space and freedom to roam, forage, socialize, and bathe on their own terms. Our mission is simple: to let elephants be elephants. Since April 2026, Phuket Elephant Sanctuary has become completely hands-off. There is no touching, bathing, or feeding with visitors. Instead, we believe meaningful experiences come from respectfully observing elephants behaving naturally and learning about their individual stories, welfare, and conservation. Over the years, we have continued to grow, opening Thailand’s longest canopy walkway in 2020 and Phuket’s first dedicated elephant hospital in 2025, supporting elephants in need across Southern Thailand. Volunteers become part of this ongoing story. Rather than interacting directly with elephants, you work behind the scenes alongside our team, helping with practical tasks such as preparing supplementary food, harvesting elephant food, maintaining the sanctuary, cleaning night shelters, composting elephant dung, and supporting other projects depending on what is needed at the time. By volunteering with us, you support rescued elephants and help promote a more ethical and respectful future for elephants.
PCEF Organization was founded in 2010 with a very small number of students. In 2014, we opened another school in Lvea farming village and later registered as a local nonprofit NGO. Now, in 2026, we have 875 students and 13 local teachers working with us. We need volunteers to help with teaching English and Chinese, social media, video editing, and fundraising.
Lanta Animal Welfare was founded by Junie Kovacs in 2005. Her mission was to end the suffering of the hundreds of homeless, abused, and injured animals on Koh Lanta. To date, we have sterilized and treated over 85,000 animals, and with your support, we continue to grow, helping more and more animals each year. At Lanta Animal Welfare, we provide critical, life-saving treatment to injured and sick stray animals across Koh Lanta. Our veterinary team delivers urgent medical care, including emergency first aid, vaccinations, wound treatment, and preventative healthcare for animals in distress. LAW’s main focus is the treatment of stray animals and sterilizations. Animals are brought to us for many different conditions, from skin problems to road traffic accidents and poisonings. Stray animals will sometimes stay with us for several weeks to ensure they are fit and well before they are released back where they came from. Unfortunately, some of the animals that find themselves needing our help are unable to return to where they came from. This may be because they were too young upon their arrival, they are at risk of abuse, or simply because they have undergone treatment for such a long period that we can no longer return them. These animals will remain at the centre and will join our rehoming programme, with over 150 animals each year finding loving homes both here in Thailand and across the world.
Pun Pun is an organic farm and learning centre that began working with the land around 2004. Through organic farming and sustainable practices, we have transformed land that was once used for corn plantations into a thriving, biodiverse organic farm. Today, Pun Pun is home to a community of around 15–20 people who live, farm, and build together while raising their families. It is a place for learning, community living, sustainable agriculture, and connection with nature.

Registered as a trust in 2011 under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, Give Me Trees Trust is now one of the largest tree-planting organisations in India. With the invaluable support of 18,600 volunteers from around the world, we have successfully planted over 2.64 crore trees to date. The founder, Swami Prem Parivartan, also known as Peepal Baba, has personally planted more than 1.27 crore Peepal trees across India.
Deep Griha Society is a community development organisation working with underserved communities in and around Pune, Maharashtra, India, for over six decades. Our work focuses on education, empowerment, healthcare, and sustainable development, supporting children, families, women, senior citizens, and other community members. Volunteers can work directly with our grassroots programmes, contributing to education, child development, community engagement, digital skills, communications, livelihoods, and other activities based on their interests and skills. At Deep Griha, volunteering is a two-way experience where you can share your knowledge, learn about grassroots development, and contribute to practical, community-led solutions.
Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary (KSES) is a non-profit foundation working alongside Karen communities in Northern Thailand to support elephant welfare, sustainable livelihoods and the protection of the forests they depend on. Our elephants live in the forest, where they are able to move, forage, socialise and rest according to their own rhythms. Our approach prioritises autonomy, space and natural behaviour. Visitors do not touch, feed, bathe or ride the elephants. Instead, they hike through the forest and observe them from a respectful distance, learning to appreciate elephants as individuals with their own needs, relationships and behaviours. Alongside our elephant welfare work, we contribute to behavioural research, community initiatives, environmental projects and education. We work closely with the local Karen community, recognising and valuing the knowledge, experience and long-standing relationships that exist within the community. Our work is based on collaboration, with initiatives developed alongside the people who live and work here. KSES is a small organisation, and collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Our visitors, interns, mahouts, community members, researchers and partner organisations all contribute to the work we share: supporting elephant welfare, community life and the forest environment in ways that are respectful of the people and place at the heart of KSES.
Liseli Initiative is a community-based NGO in Livingstone, Zambia, working to empower marginalized children, youth, women, and families to build safer, healthier, and self-sustaining communities. “Liseli” means “Light” in Lozi, reflecting our belief that everyone can bring hope and positive change. Our work focuses on education, youth development, gender equality, women’s empowerment, health, water and sanitation, and livelihoods. Volunteers contribute their skills and ideas while gaining meaningful experience in Zambian culture and grassroots development. Tumaini Hands Mission (THM) is a community-based nonprofit founded in Eldoret, Kenya, with a simple belief: hope can transform communities when put into action. Founded in 2017 by local leaders and health workers, THM supports vulnerable children and families affected by poverty, school dropout, and limited access to healthcare. Today, we work across schools, health centres, and villages in Eldoret, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia. Our programmes focus on education, healthcare, and community service, including early childhood learning, school mentorship, tutoring, health awareness, hygiene and nutrition outreach, and women and youth empowerment. As a grassroots, volunteer-led organization, we believe in living with the community, learning from the community, and serving where help is needed most. This is not just a visit—it is an opportunity to contribute to real community impact.
Shree Guru Jambeshwar Sewa Sansthan (SGJSS) is a registered non-profit society founded in 2007 and based in Jaipur, Rajasthan. For over 18 years, we have worked with smallholder and marginal farming families in the villages of Bikaner and Bharatpur. Inspired by the Bishnoi tradition, which emphasizes protecting trees, wildlife, and water, our work focuses on practical, community-led development. Our programmes cover sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods, environmental conservation, women’s empowerment, rural health, and digital literacy. Volunteers work directly with our field team and community members, supporting activities based on local needs and seasonal priorities. Through hands-on participation, volunteers can gain meaningful experience while contributing to sustainable development in rural Rajasthan.
Gaia Ashram is a tropical permaculture farm and learning centre in North-Eastern Thailand, set on 6 hectares of land developed using deep ecology, permaculture, and ecovillage design principles. Gaia Ashram aims to be a place where people can live more holistically, learn from nature, and experience the interconnectedness of all life while practicing sustainable ways of living.

SustainMe is a Ugandan nonprofit organization working at grassroots level with vulnerable women, girls, children, and families to address poverty, inequality, and vulnerability through economic empowerment, education, women’s rights, health and nutrition, literacy, and disability support. We empower women through business and vocational skills, financial literacy, village banking, and seed grants, while promoting women’s rights and awareness of gender-based violence. We also support vulnerable children and families through education, literacy, health and nutrition programmes, including our community library and Reading on Wheels initiatives. SustainMe supports children and women living with disabilities through safe spaces, psychosocial support, nutrition assistance, referrals, and community awareness. Founded in 2013 by Samuel Wanyagira with just $113 in personal savings, SustainMe began by supporting five women with small business capital and has since grown to impact more than 20,000 lives. We welcome volunteers who want to share their skills and experience, learn from Ugandan communities, and contribute to meaningful grassroots development.
