The children in the projects we work with require a great deal of care, attention, and most importantly, companionship. Volunteers can organize extra activities such as: - Recreational activities (yoga, sports, arts, and crafts) - Helping children with homework - Playing, dancing, painting, and singing with the children - Assisting with day-to-day tasks at the institution - Building the self-esteem and confidence of the children Children aged 1 to 5 years attend our program, where the main goal is to teach basic skills such as colors, language, music, and numbers, while helping them grow in a safe, clean, and supportive environment where they feel loved, cared for, and strong. There are about 50 children attending our program. Their families often come from low-income households or broken families. Some of the children are orphans and are cared for by relatives. The Women's Refuge, established in 1959, provides a safe, temporary home for women and children affected by domestic violence, abuse, and social stigma. Its mission is to support survivors through physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, regardless of race or religion. Due to the sensitive nature of the project and the experiences of the residents, this is a women-for-women program, and only female volunteers are eligible to participate. Residents can stay for up to three months and receive accommodation, meals, clothing, counseling, legal and medical support, childcare, and educational assistance for their children. A key focus of the project is empowering women to regain their independence. Residents have the opportunity to participate in skills training programs such as sewing, beadwork, crafts, computer literacy, and job-readiness preparation, helping them build confidence and prepare for future employment. Volunteers play an important role in supporting the daily activities of the refuge and work alongside social workers to respond to the individual needs of each woman and her children. We are a small community school located in Tnol Trong Village, just 13 km from Siem Reap, Cambodia. The school is a registered non-profit NGO, founded in February 2013 by our family. Cambodia is experiencing strong growth in tourism, creating future job opportunities, especially around Siem Reap. For these children, English is essential. Our goal is to provide children from disadvantaged backgrounds with free English and Chinese education, helping them access better employment opportunities in the future. It is established and designed to provide special needs of less privileged and marginalized children in Ghana with services extended nationwide with the aspiration to safeguard the disadvantaged children in Ghana through Education, Healthcare, Sports, Agriculture, Construction & Renovation, and Child Trafficking. Since inception, the organisation has hosted volunteers and interns from around the world participating in our education, healthcare and community development projects. The organisation was founded with the goal of helping participants from around the world volunteer, intern and immerse in the culture of Ghana while living with a local host family. This project focuses on the construction and renovation of school classrooms, Orphanages, healthcare centres, community centres, and improving educational and infrastructure facilities in underserved communities of Ghana. Volunteers also have the opportunity to meet Elders and Chiefs, and learn about the various cultures of the different communities through music and dance. Working with the construction team, volunteers will learn basic skills such as how to mix mortar, laying bricks, painting, block shaping, fetching water, plumbing works, carpentry, plastering, concrete mixing, digging drenches etc. The key to any building project is the partner between you, the team and the local community, as well as bringing essential funding to the project. Volunteers work with the locals to make sure these projects get completed and match the needs of the people they are benefiting. Work schedules are not always the same as you might imagine them in your country, so get ready to test your cross-cultural knowledge.
A Greater Hope NGO, established in 2025, operates several ministries under its umbrella. A Heart for Wisdom School, established in 2010, is a rural school located one hour south of Phnom Penh, currently serving just under 1,000 students from preschool to Grade 12. A Living God Church, located at the school, serves approximately 50 adults and 200 children every weekend. The church also operates 14 outreach locations, reaching around 1,200 local residents within a 5-kilometre radius. Calvary Bible Institute – Cambodia is a further education programme where students learn Bible studies and practical skills, preparing them for ministry.
The Impact Center by ZeroPlastic is a craft experience and environmental learning space in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. It connects visitors with local craftsmanship, plastic alternatives and the work of ZeroPlastic Movement. The center is based in Rotawewa, on Sigiriya Road, and is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. As a Local Craft and Artisan Empowerment Volunteer, you will support the center’s daily operations and help bring greater visibility to products made by 352 local artisans. You’ll work alongside the center team and in-house artists to welcome visitors, support craft workshops and exhibitions, and share the stories behind local products. The center offers hands-on coconut shell and bamboo craft experiences, displays handmade products, and uses creative activities to introduce visitors to reuse and plastic reduction. Depending on your skills and the team’s priorities, you may also help improve product displays, product descriptions, visitor information and the way artisan stories are presented. Any product feedback or development work will be done in collaboration with the artisans and center team. No previous craft experience is required. We welcome volunteers who are interested in sustainability, local culture, crafts, tourism, communications or community-based work, and who are ready to learn and help with practical tasks.

Join our team in Sigiriya, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and help build awareness of plastic reduction in the surrounding community and tourism businesses. Based near the ZeroPlastic Impact Center, you will support initiatives with hotels, villas, homestays and restaurants in Sigiriya. Working with business owners and employees, you’ll help share practical ways to reduce plastic consumption and encourage alternatives that suit each business. You may also help with community awareness activities and environmental education at local schools. Activities are planned with our local team and partners. You’ll help prepare and share awareness materials, support discussions and promote practical steps that protect the environment and the character of this important heritage area. Teaching or environmental qualifications are not required; curiosity, respect and a willingness to communicate are more important.

Volunteers help in a wide range of subjects, including Mathematics, Creative Arts, Science, Basic English and Mathematics etc. The teaching program takes place in Nursery, Primary and Junior High Schools where volunteers initially either shadow or teach under the supervision of a local teacher. Once acquainted with the school and the curriculum, volunteers in Ghana get the chance of teaching independently. It is important that volunteers are flexible as there are a number of other tasks they can help with. These might include helping children with their homework, arranging games and activities, cleaning the classroom and assisting teachers with administrative duties. It is not compulsory to have prior to have prior teaching experience to have completed formal teaching training to volunteer in Ghana for this program. Trust Primary School is a private nursery and primary school in Kaggulwe LC 1, Uganda, serving children aged 3 to 14. Our vision is "Empowering minds, fostering the future." We began with just two children — my daughter, Shalom Ann Mercy, and Doreen, a neighbour's child. By the end of the first year, we had grown to 14 pupils. Because our school is Christian-founded in a mainly Muslim district, some in the community initially feared their children would be converted. But I stayed focused on the children and our vision. Parents who gave us a chance saw their children learning and cared for — and trust replaced fear. Today, Trust Primary School serves 300 children. Muslims are now the majority of our pupils, and they are thankful — we even have the children of sheikhs learning here. The community that once feared us now trusts us with their children. We welcome volunteers who share our belief that every child, of every faith, deserves a strong education.

LDC is a small local NGO, founded in 1994, and has been serving civil society as a non-profit organization since then. In the past 30 years, LDC has been promoting and supporting many different alternative development projects among ethnic minority communities—HIV/AIDS prevention and care projects, illicit drug prevention and care projects, community development and empowerment projects, environment conservation projects, and poverty alleviation projects with very tight support. LDC is registered with the Social Development and Human Security Ministry as a public interest organization. In 2017, after more than 20 years working in education, our founder, Mak Sreymao, chose to leave her established career and dedicate her experience to creating new opportunities for children in one of Cambodia’s more remote communities. She started MONO in Thma Bang, Koh Kong Province, where access to quality education and English learning has been limited. What began with small English and mathematics classes for local children gradually grew into a registered kindergarten and a growing learning community. Today, MONO supports young children and students through kindergarten education, English and mathematics, after-school learning, life skills, leadership, and community activities. Our mission is not simply to teach lessons. We want children to discover confidence, curiosity, and the belief that their future can be bigger than the place where they were born. We believe education can open doors that children may not yet be able to see. The program is based on the principle that effective conservation benefits from combining local knowledge and experience with appropriate scientific and practical knowledge. Volunteers therefore support learning and awareness activities that respond to locally identified needs. Depending on their interests, skills and experience, volunteers may support adult literacy, financial literacy, language learning, communication and information technology, gender equality and human rights awareness, water, sanitation and hygiene, public health, sexual and reproductive health education, tourism and hospitality, tour guiding, vocational skills, sewing and fashion design, music, or environmental and conservation education. Enghouse English Homestay is a shared-living community in Vietnam where Vietnamese members and international volunteers live, communicate, and learn from one another. Our community was created to give Vietnamese students and young professionals a friendly environment in which they can become more confident using English in everyday life. Instead of focusing only on textbooks and formal lessons, we encourage natural communication through conversations, games, cultural discussions, shared meals, and community activities. International volunteers become part of the Enghouse community rather than working as formal teachers. They share their language, culture, and experiences while also learning about Vietnamese traditions, food, and daily life from our local members. The Livingseas Coral Restoration Site is the largest project of its kind in Bali, covering more than 9,000 m² and comprising over 9,200 reef structures. Led by the Livingseas Foundation and managed by Livingseas Asia, the initiative aims to restore 5 hectares (50,000 m²) of coral reef habitat stretching from Padangbai to Amuk Bay. Coral reef restoration is at the heart of our mission. Since 2019, Livingseas has been leading one of Indonesia's largest coral restoration initiatives off the coast of Padangbai, a traditional fishing village in northeastern Bali. This ambitious project continues to expand, making a significant contribution to marine conservation while helping restore vital reef ecosystems. Livingseas has earned international recognition for its work, including the prestigious Blue Water Heroes Award presented by Dr. Sylvia Earle. Blue Heart Bali is a 100% locally led, grassroots non-profit organization based on the peaceful northeast coast of Bali, in the traditional fishing village of Tianyar. Our mission is to restore damaged marine ecosystems while empowering the local community through education, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development. Years of unsustainable fishing, coral harvesting, and plastic pollution severely damaged the area's coral reefs. In response, we build and deploy artificial reef structures to restore marine habitats, protect biodiversity, and support sea turtle conservation efforts. Stand Up 4 Elephants (SU4E) is a Belgian and Nepalese non-profit organization that has been working in Chitwan, Nepal, since 2013. The organization was founded after its founders witnessed the poor conditions endured by captive Asian elephants in the local tourism industry. Since then, SU4E has worked directly with elephant owners and mahouts (caretakers), providing free veterinary care, foot treatments, vitamins, and other support to approximately 50 elephants in the region. In 2018, SU4E began building its own sanctuary near Chitwan National Park—a model camp demonstrating how captive elephants can be cared for more ethically with minimal resources. The Children Therapy & Care Program is a community-based initiative that supports children with special needs and developmental challenges in Arusha, Tanzania. The program serves children aged 0–12 years from diverse social and economic backgrounds, providing them with essential care, learning support, and developmental assistance. Many of the children we support experience developmental delays or disabilities caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Down syndrome, ADHD, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, muscular disorders, and speech or developmental delays. Our approach focuses on improving each child's independence, communication, mobility, and overall quality of life through structured therapy support and daily care activities. The program offers a combination of physiotherapy support, occupational therapy activities, speech and communication exercises, and play-based learning designed to stimulate development in a safe, supportive, and child-friendly environment. As resources become available, we also plan to expand our services by introducing additional rehabilitation approaches, including hydrotherapy. We believe that every child deserves access to quality care, regardless of their family's financial situation. For this reason, we work closely with families to ensure that children continue receiving support even when they are unable to afford the full cost of services. We are also developing long-term sponsorship opportunities for children from vulnerable backgrounds. Cambodia suffered greatly during the Khmer Rouge and genocide (1975 - 1979) this totally decimated the population, many of the remaining population being left homeless, without food and shelter. Since then Cambodia has been slowly developing. However even now, work is not plentiful here so a lot of people leave to work outside the country or in areas where they cannot take their children. These children would be homeless if it was not for organizations such as Aspire school.

It began with 137 children and has since grown in response to increasing need. FOU provides holistic care including food, education, healthcare, and psychosocial support. The Children’s Centre at Muguluka was established after acquiring land, offering long-term support for orphans from primary school through university. Among the first group of foster children, 12 successfully completed university education.

Sex education and menstrual hygiene workshops are conducted to raise awareness on sexual health and menstrual care. Our previous work has trained local women to produce reusable sanitary pads, which were distributed to 672 girls in six schools. We aim to expand this project and welcome new ideas. We also run initiatives to empower women through income generation. This includes providing soft loans to help women start small businesses, as well as training others to produce and sell traditional crafts such as jewelry, handbags, and shoes. We welcome volunteers to support teaching in local schools, assisting with English and other subjects to improve education for children in the community. Our medical health internship offers exposure to real healthcare settings in Malawi. Volunteers observe medical practice, support staff where possible, and learn about healthcare challenges in resource-limited environments. Placements are in government-approved hospitals and clinics, and require open-mindedness and adaptability. Our law and human rights internship allows volunteers to work alongside legal professionals providing free legal aid. Activities include assisting with case preparation, supporting clients, observing court processes, and participating in community awareness on issues such as domestic violence, land disputes, and family law.

Berean Community Hand of Faith Ltd is a faith-based, non-profit organization in Uganda focused on community support and Christian ministry. Founded in January 2025 and registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, it aims to promote Christian living while supporting vulnerable groups, especially children in need such as orphans, abandoned children, children of incarcerated parents, and those with health or social challenges. We also support elderly people and caregivers, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable community members. Our work includes medical referrals, psychosocial support, education assistance, livelihood empowerment, community outreach, workshops, pastoral care, counseling, and elderly companionship. The Bali Volunteer Program offers a meaningful opportunity to support local children while experiencing authentic Balinese village life. Based in the coastal village of Seraya in East Bali, the program focuses on improving children’s English skills through fun, interactive, and engaging learning activities that encourage confidence and participation. Volunteers work closely with local schools and community members, delivering informal English lessons using games, songs, arts and crafts, storytelling, and outdoor activities. Association of Cambodia Child First (ACCF) is a Cambodian non-governmental organization working for the common good of society, focusing on the education of children and support for thousands of families in Bakong District. Established in 2014, ACCF has since supported an average of 100 children and thousands of the poorest families. ACCF provides free full-time English and Chinese classes five days a week, along with essential learning materials, including notebooks, textbooks, school bags, shoes, and pens. The program also offers monthly breakfasts to around 220 children to support their daily well-being and learning. The project is based in Steong Village, Bakong Commune, Bakong District, Siem Reap Province, approximately 15 kilometers from Siem Reap town. Many families in this rural area face economic hardship, making access to education and basic school supplies difficult. ACCF has identified key challenges such as lack of uniforms, learning materials, food, and transportation to school. Some children are unable to attend school due to distance and financial barriers. To address this, the organization works closely with local authorities to identify vulnerable children and families and provide targeted support. Through outreach programs, the ACCF team visits families to assess needs and ensure children receive essential educational resources. This includes school supplies, food support, and learning opportunities, helping reduce dropout rates and improve access to education. ACCF believes that all children are the foundation and future of the nation, and works to ensure they have equal opportunities to learn and grow.
Started as a free school to provide education to village children in 2015, the program expanded its approach to include organic agriculture, animal husbandry, and a platform for volunteering to share knowledge and experience, and more importantly, contribute to sustainability. Officially registered as a non-profit organisation by the government and recognised by international institutions since 2022, we provide volunteers with a unique experience of living with our team in our village program while practising humanity through our humanitarian projects in education, agriculture, and construction. United Tansania e.V. is a German NGO, registered in 2021 and based in Tanzania. We study both hyena species: the striped hyena, classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN, and the spotted hyena, which is threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and human-wildlife conflict. To understand the drivers of sustainable carnivore survival outside protected areas, we work on mitigation solutions with communities that experience hyena conflicts. Due to their negative reputation and responsibility for livestock losses, hyenas are subject to high levels of persecution, including the use of snares. Our team, led by a veterinarian and supported by local trackers and camp staff, is committed to empowering local communities and conducting research on spotted and striped hyenas. Our long-term goals include developing effective strategies for carnivore conservation and improving animal health.
We are a public school teaching kindergarten, primary, and secondary pupils. We are based in Uttaradit, Thailand. We welcome volunteers and interns who would like to help us teach basic spoken English or Chinese (Mandarin) to our students.
Our volunteer program supports children in surrounding villages by improving access to sustainable education and helping bridge the gap between local and Western-style schooling. Private schools have 50–100 students with 5–30 pupils per class, while public schools can have up to 1500 students with 50–80 pupils per class. Due to limited teachers, classes cannot always be split. After an introductory period with a professional teacher, volunteers may teach independently once comfortable. What you can expect: Books are limited, usually 1–2 per subject per class. Students copy from the blackboard and learn at different speeds, so individual attention is important. Teachers often lack time to support every student, so volunteers help keep students engaged and support those who need extra help. We welcome ideas from volunteers to improve teaching methods, many of which continue even after they leave. An after-school library is also available where volunteers assist students from nearby villages. These students have mixed learning levels, so help with exercises, corrections, and explanations is highly needed. The library also has teaching materials and a small playground with a basketball hoop for educational games and PE activities. Location: Schools are within walking distance from host families and include classrooms, playgrounds, and staff rooms. Smaller schools may have basic play equipment, while larger public schools may have football or basketball fields. Tea and cake are provided during break time. Host families are in quiet villages near Arusha town, with shops nearby and a 20-minute walk to the city. The area is green with views of Mount Meru and a strong community atmosphere. What we expect from you: No special equipment is required, though school supplies like books, pens, and pencils are appreciated. Volunteers should be open-minded, respectful, and responsible. We provide full support during your stay and assistance with daily needs and travel arrangements. You will gain valuable insight into local culture, traditions, and everyday life beyond typical tourism experiences.

Volunteering with nomadic families in Morocco offers a unique cultural and personal experience. Participants live and work alongside Amazigh nomads from the Ait Atta tribes, learning about their traditions, daily life, and deep connection with nature while contributing positively to their community. The nomads spend winter months in the Jbel Saghro mountains in southeast Morocco and migrate during summer to the High Atlas Mountains, particularly the Ait Bouguemez Valley. Volunteers follow this seasonal movement and experience life in remote mountain landscapes. Daily life with the nomads centers around caring for animals such as goats, camels, donkeys, and chickens. Volunteers may help with grazing, feeding, watering, and milking animals, preparing food, collecting firewood, and carrying water. In the dry Jbel Saghro region, water is especially valuable, teaching the importance of sustainability and simple living. Living with a nomad family also allows volunteers to experience breathtaking sunsets, starry nights, and the beauty of the Atlas Mountains. It is an opportunity to disconnect from modern routines and appreciate nature and community life. Another important part of the project is teaching English, French, or Spanish to nomad children. Many families value education, and volunteers can support children’s learning while building strong relationships with the community. No previous experience is required, as guidance and support are provided throughout the program.
